This data set documents the names and locations of the state's rivers, streams, lakes and reservoirs which have been assigned designated uses. The initial version of this dataset, as adopted on November 6, 2013, reflects Tables G and H plus any additional presumptive uses described in section (2). The dataset will also include information regarding both pending and approved determinations, variances, use attainability analyses and water quality standards revisions. The dataset uses the geospatial framework provided by the National Hydrography Dataset and is enhance and supported by hydrological and physical information obtained through the Missouri Resource Assessment Partnership (MoRAP) and other scientific sources. The dataset is limited in geographic extent to the state of Missouri. MDNR, DEQ, WPP The Missouri Clean Water Information System, commonly referred to as MoCWIS, is a Web based application that is used by the Water Pollution Control Branch and Regional Offices to maintain Water Quality Standards and to manage wastewater permit application and permit data, as well as water pollution inspections and enforcement. There are two modules of MoCWIS – Water Quality Standards and Permitting and Compliance. In summary, this data set contains all lakes and reservoirs that intersect the flow lines of rivers and streams in the 1:100,000-scale National Hydrography Dataset (NHD), and all perennial rivers and streams, and all streams with permanent pools that were classified prior to November 6, 2013. By utilizing the NHD as base data, the Missouri Use Designation Dataset can be used for reporting and tracking these waters, and for wider use in water resources management activities (planning and problem-solving, outreach and education, etc.) at a watershed scale, including the use of applications in the decision-making process to integrate water quality protections through permitting, assessments, development of total maximum daily loads, and more. This data set is part of the Missouri Use Designation Dataset used by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources in the implementation of Water Quality Standards. The primary purpose of this data set was to replace tables published in 10 CSR 20-7.031 with visual maps. Historically, the tables were used to track the location of designated uses located on paper maps, which were then published in the Missouri Code of State Regulations. This version of the Lake Classifications and Use Designations feature class was incorporated by reference in the Missouri Code of State Regulations (CSR), 10 CSR 20-7.031, published on March 31, 2018, and approved by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), on July 30, 2019. This data set is developed in response to the Missouri Clean Water Law and the federal Clean Water Act, Sections 303(c)(1) and (2), which requires that state water quality standards be reviewed at least every three (3) years. These revisions are pursuant to the national goal of protection of fish, shellfish, and wildlife and recreation in and on the water as outlined in Section 101(a)(2) of the Act. The Clean Water Act established water pollution control programs in order to protect public health and welfare through restoring and maintaining water quality of the nation's waters. The primary purpose of this data set was to replace tables published in 10 CSR 20-7.031 with visual maps. Historically, the tables were used to track the location of designated uses located on paper maps, which were then published in the Missouri Code of State Regulations. This version of the Lake Classifications and Use Designations feature class was incorporated by reference in the Missouri Code of State Regulations (CSR), 10 CSR 20-7.031, published on March 31, 2018, and approved by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), on July 30, 2019. This data set is developed in response to the Missouri Clean Water Law and the federal Clean Water Act, Sections 303(c)(1) and (2), which requires that state water quality standards be reviewed at least every three (3) years. These revisions are pursuant to the national goal of protection of fish, shellfish, and wildlife and recreation in and on the water as outlined in Section 101(a)(2) of the Act. The Clean Water Act established water pollution control programs in order to protect public health and welfare through restoring and maintaining water quality of the nation's waters. The Water Quality Standards program is the foundation for a wide range of other programs under the Clean Water Act, and serves numerous purposes, including establishing water quality goals for a body of water, or portion thereof, by designating its beneficial uses and setting maximum allowable concentrations of pollutants â?? referred to as criteria â?? for each designated use. In summary, this data set contains all lakes and reservoirs that intersect the flow lines of rivers and streams in the 1:100,000-scale National Hydrography Dataset (NHD), and all perennial rivers and streams, and all streams with permanent pools that were classified prior to November 6, 2013. Other updates include: naming convention changes, changes to designated uses, updates to acreage and mileage, and updates in to/from fields which can affect legal description and/or county fields.
